Basic Certification Criteria

  • General Manager

    In order to be eligible for Basic Certification as a Community Futures General Manager, you must meet the following criteria:

    • You must have worked at a Community Futures organization for at least 1 year
    • Your most recent performance evaluation by your supervisor must have been generally positive. The evaluation must have taken place within the past 12 months.
    • Overall, you must be knowledgeable and proficient in the basic competencies required by a General Manager. This is demonstrated through a self-assessment of your skills and education.
    • Please note, you may apply for Basic Certification as a General Manager even if you are working in another position in a Community Futures organization

    Individuals applying for Basic Certification as a Community Futures General Manager are asked to provide a portfolio that includes:

    • an application form
    • a self-assessment of your competencies
    • resume
    • certificates, diplomas, or degrees for the courses listed in your self-assessment
    • your most recent Performance Evaluation from your Community Futures
    • a letter of support from your supervisor that indicates agreement with your self- assessment. Your supervisor is either the Community Futures General Manager (if you are a Community Futures staff person) or the Board of Directors (if you are a General Manager).

    Please complete the online application form and self-assessment tool and attach your resume, diplomas, annual performance review, and letter of support from your Board where indicated.

  • Business Analyst

    In order to be eligible for Basic Certification as a Community Futures Business Analyst, you must meet the following criteria:

    • You must have worked at a Community Futures organization for at least 1 year
    • Your most recent performance evaluation by your supervisor must have been generally positive. The evaluation must have taken place within the past 12 months. 
    • Overall, you must be knowledgeable and proficient in the basic competencies required by a Business Analyst. This is demonstrated through a self-assessment of your skills and education.
    • Please note, you may apply for Basic Certification as a Business Analyst even if you are working in another position in a Community Futures organization

    Individuals applying for Basic Certification as a Community Futures Business Analyst are asked to provide a portfolio that includes:

    • an application form
    • a self-assessment of your competencies
    • resume
    • certificates, diplomas, or degrees for the courses listed in your self-assessment
    • your most recent Performance Evaluation from your Community Futures
    • a letter of support from your supervisor that indicates agreement with your self- assessment. Your supervisor is either the Community Futures General Manager (if you are a Community Futures staff person) or the Board of Directors (if you are a General Manager).

  • Community Economic Development Coordinator

    In order to be eligible for Basic Certification as a Community Futures CED Coordinator, you must meet the following criteria:

    • You must have worked at a Community Futures organization for at least 1 year
    • Your most recent performance evaluation by your supervisor must have been generally positive. The evaluation must have taken place within the past 12 months.
    • Overall, you must be knowledgeable and proficient in the basic competencies required by a CED Coordinator. This is demonstrated through a self-assessment of your skills and education.
    • Please note, you may apply for Basic Certification as a CED Coordinator even if you are working in another position in a Community Futures organization

    Individuals applying for Basic Certification as a Community Futures CED Coordinator are asked to provide a portfolio that includes:

    • an application form
    • a self-assessment of your competencies
    • resume
    • certificates, diplomas, or degrees for the courses listed in your self-assessment
    • your most recent Performance Evaluation from your Community Futures
    • a letter of support from your supervisor that indicates agreement with your self- assessment. Your supervisor is either the Community Futures General Manager (if you are a Community Futures staff person) or the Board of Directors (if you are a General Manager).

  • Administrative Coordinator

    This Certification is applicable to a number of Community Futures positions including administrative assistants, executive assistants, bookkeepers, and office managers.

    In order to be eligible for Basic Certification as a Community Futures Administrative Coordinator, you must meet the following criteria:

    • You must have worked at a Community Futures organization for at least 1 year
    • Your most recent annual performance evaluation by your supervisor must have been generally positive. The evaluation must have taken place within the past 12 months.
    • Overall, you must be knowledgeable and proficient in the basic competencies required by an Administrative Coordinator. This is demonstrated through a self-assessment of your skills and education.
    • Please note, you may apply for Basic Certification as an Administrative Coordinator even if you are working in another position in a Community Futures organization

    Individuals applying for Basic Certification as a Community Futures Administrative Coordinator are asked to provide a portfolio that includes:

    • an application form
    • a self-assessment of your competencies
    • resume
    • certificates, diplomas, or degrees for the courses listed in your self-assessment
    • your most recent Performance Evaluation from your Community Futures
    • a letter of support from your supervisor that indicates agreement with your self- assessment. Your supervisor is either the Community Futures General Manager (if you are a Community Futures staff person) or the Board of Directors (if you are a General Manager).

    Note: There are many optional competencies for Administrative Coordinators because the duties of the position vary so much across Community Futures offices.
