To help staff members pursue certification, the Community Futures Leadership Institute has developed a number of 1- and 2-day workshops and online streaming videos. The workshops, which are available in various formats, can be ordered by individual Community Futures offices.
Community Futures offices or associations wishing to organize a workshop in their region can do so by contacting the Leadership Institute coordinator. Several adjacent Community Futures may choose to join together to put on a workshop for their staff.

Community Futures staff members in the four core positions are often required to fulfill training and/or coaching needs. They are also required to work with community groups, whether it’s representing Community Futures within a community organization, assisting a local group in obtaining funding or facilitating a strategic planning session.
This workshop is designed to allow each participant to explore their own strengths and weaknesses as a coach, and teaches them how to attain optimal performance. It also teaches participants the skills required to work with community groups in an effective and organized manner that achieves results.

Community Futures staff are involved in all the stages of project management – initiating, planning, defining, designing and evaluating projects.
This workshop offers a review of Project Management for all core Community Futures staff. It teaches the basic and advanced project management competencies identified for the four core positions, as well as project management principles as defined by the Project Management Institute.
This 2-day workshop is offered by our qualified Pan West Staff Development Facilitators as a face-to-face session.
It is essential that all Community Futures have a clear understanding of the organization’s lending policy and loans types, and of the eligibility requirements, loans process and application review for potential clients.
This workshop takes participants through a detailed description of all the policies and practices that make up the Community Futures Lending Process.

In order to help in your discussions with businesses interested in growth, a survey has been developed to serve as a guide for your initial discussions and standardize your approach.
This workshop describes the process of creating relationships with potential client businesses – how to target them and establish communication, how to set out the next steps in the relationship, and how to maintain long-term contact.
